Donburi is a rice bowl counter on Mitchell Street in Brunswick. The small but mighty hole in the wall has been built around speed: order, bowl, back out the window. The brief needed an identity that could keep that pace without losing the warmth of the food. Something legible on a menu board from across the room, on a takeaway cup lid, and on a shopfront window all at once. Instead of illustrating each dish, I broke everything down into a single unit, a dot. Echoing both a grain of rice and the flip-board departure signage you'd see ticking over in a train station. The result is a modular icon system where every dish, from the logomark down to the smallest garnish note, is built from the same dot grid at different scales. Rice grain plus bowl becomes the Donburi wordmark; a school of dots becomes seared tuna or teriyaki chicken. The same system carries through onto packaging, window signage, and ticket-style price tags, giving one consistent visual voice from the till to the takeaway bowl.
